At its meeting held May 10, 2005, the Board took the following action:
Supervisor Antonovich made the following statement:“Despite a $2 million bail, on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, inmate Alonzo Fitzgerald Taylor managed to escape from the Criminal Courts Building by changing his attire to a white suit to disguise himself as a released inmate. Mr. Taylor is described as a 41-year-old male, 6'4" tall and 220 pounds. He was previously convicted of a series of burglaries, assault on a peace officer and grand theft auto. His most recent charges of robbery and kidnapping in Santa Monica may mark his third strike.
“The Sheriff's Department is seeking assistance from anyone who may have information that could aid in their investigation to capture Mr. Taylor. A separate investigation into the events which lead to Mr. Taylor's escape is also underway.”
Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Antonovich, seconded by Supervisor Yaroslavsky, unanimously carried, the Board established a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the capture and conviction of inmate Alonzo Fitzgerald Taylor who escaped from the Criminal Courts Building on May 3, 2005.
Further, the Board requested the Sheriff to report back within 30 days regarding the events which lead to Mr. Taylor’s escape and the resulting corrective action plan.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the capture and conviction of inmate Alonzo Fitzgerald Taylor who escaped from the Criminal Courts Building on May 3, 2005.
Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau at (323) 526-5541 and refer to Report No. 005-00191-4016-323.
The terms of the reward provide that:
- The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than August 8, 2005. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than October 7, 2005.
- The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
- The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.
