At its meeting held January 21, 2003, the Board took the following action:

The following statement was entered into the record for Supervisors Molina and Antonovich:

"Brenda Sierra, a 15-year-old sophomore at Schurr High School, was last seen on Friday, October 18, 2002 on her way to a friend's house, where she was to receive a ride to school. Brenda never arrived at her friend's house and never got to school. Subsequently, her body was found in San Bernardino County.

"To date, no one has come forward to accept responsibility for this heinous crime. The perpetrator responsible for Brenda's disappearance and demise is still at large. The Sheriff has made clear that the largest reward possible would be helpful to the investigation."

Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Molina, seconded by Supervisor Antonovich, unanimously carried, the Board approved the extension of the $5,000 reward and increased the reward amount from $5,000 to $150,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of 15-year-old Brenda Sierra, who was last seen on Friday, October 18, 2002 on her way to a friend's house, in the Saybrook area of East Los Angeles, and whose body was found near the Crestline Highway in San Bernardino County on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at approximately 10:00 a.m.
