Shooting at Catholic Charities Lancaster Homeless Shelter

At its meeting held November 27, 2007, the Board took the following action:

Supervisor Antonovich made the following statement:

"On September 4, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved a reward offer of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the shooting that occurred on Monday, August 27, 2007, at approximately 8:15 p.m., wherein two innocent shelter residents of the Catholic Charities Lancaster Homeless Shelter were injured in the crossfire of gang to-gang violence, which took place in the vicinity of the 44600 block of Yucca Avenue in Lancaster. The reward offer is due to expire on December 3, 2007.

"The Lancaster Sheriff's Station is seeking assistance from anyone who may have information that can aid in their investigation."

Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Antonovich, seconded by Supervisor Burke, unanimously carried, the Board extended the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the shooting and injuring of two innocent shelter residents of the Catholic Charities Lancaster Homeless Shelter located in the vicinity of the 44600 block of Yucca Avenue in Lancaster on August 27, 2007 at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles extended the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the shooting and injuring of two innocent shelter residents of the Catholic Charities Lancaster Homeless Shelter located in the vicinity of the 44600 block of Yucca Avenue in Lancaster on August 27, 2007 at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detective Mike Zollo at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lancaster Station at (661) 940-3872 or (661) 948-COPS and refer to Report No. 407-22131-1132-051.

The terms of the reward provide that:

The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than May 31, 2008. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than July 30, 2008.
The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than July 30, 2008, with the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Homeless Shelter Shooting Reward Fund.
