At its meeting held December 19, 2006, the Board took the following action:

      Supervisor Burke made the following statement:

      “On April 4, 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved a reward offer of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Cedric Smalls. The reward was extended on September 19, 2006, but will expire on December 30, 2006.

“On September 16, 2005, Cedric Smalls was shot to death in the 200 block of West 126th Street, which is located in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating this heinous crime; however, to date they have received no viable clues regarding the incident.”

      Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Burke, seconded by Supervisor Antonovich, unanimously carried (Supervisor Molina being absent), the Board approved the extension of the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Cedric Smalls, who was shot to death in the 200 block of West 126th Street, in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County on September 16, 2005.


NOTICE OF $10,000.00 REWARD
OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles has extended the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Cedric Smalls, who was shot to death in the 200 block of West 126th Street, in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County on September 16, 2005.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Captain Raymond H. Peavy at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 and refer to Report No. 2005-16298-2140-011.

The terms of the reward provide that:

  • The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than March 30, 2007. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than May 29, 2007.
  • The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
  • The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than May 29, 2007 with the Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Cedric Smalls Reward Fund.
