At its meeting held October 11, 2005, the Board took the following action:
Supervisor Burke made the following statement:“On October 19, 2004, the Board of Supervisors approved a reward offer of $10,000 for information leading up to the arrest and conviction of the person involved in the murder of Joe Eddie Brown. The reward offer was extended on January 4, 2005, April 12, 2005 and July 12, 2005, but will expire on October 14, 2005.
“On Wednesday, September 8, 2004, 18-year-old Joe Eddie Brown was shot at the corner of Lindbergh Avenue and Cedar Street in the City of Lynwood. He died the following day at Saint Francis Hospital from a gun shot wound to the head.
“The suspect, identified by witnesses as a male Hispanic adult, was driving a black compact car.”
Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Burke, seconded by Supervisor Yaroslavsky, unanimously carried, the Board approved the extension of the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of 18-year-old Joe Eddie Brown who was shot in the head at the corner of Lindbergh Ave. and Cedar St., in the City of Lynwood, on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at approximately 11:19 p.m..
NOTICE OF $10,000.00 REWARD
OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles has extended the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of 18-year-old Joe Eddie Brown who was shot in the head at the corner of Lindbergh Ave. and Cedar St., in the City of Lynwood, on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at approximately 11:19 p.m.
Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detective Dameron Peyton at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 and refer to Report No. 004-15323-2116-011.
The terms of the reward provide that:
- The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than January 12, 2006. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than March 13, 2006.
- The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
- The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.
Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than March 13, 2006 with the Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Joe Eddie Brown Reward Fund.
