At its meeting held February 19, 2008, the Board took the following action:

      Supervisor Burke made the following statement:

      "On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved a reward offer of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the heinous murder of Jose Isabel Murillo. The reward offer was last extended on August 21, 2007, but will expire on March 1, 2008.

      "On June 8, 2005, Jose Isabel Murillo was shot to death in the driveway of his residence in the 1100 block of West 89th Street in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.

      "Mr. Murillo was employed as a uniformed security guard and had just returned home from work when he was shot and killed. Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating this murder. However, to date, they have received no viable clues regarding the incident."

     Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Burke, seconded by Supervisor Yaroslavsky, unanimously carried, the Board extended the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Jose Isabel Murillo, who was shot and killed in the driveway of his home in the 1100 block of West 89th Street, in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County on June 8, 2005.

NOTICE OF $10,000.00 REWARD
OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles has extended the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Jose Isabel Murillo, who was shot and killed in the driveway of his home in the 1100 block of West 89th St., in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County on June 8, 2005.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detectives Richard Green or Steve Rubino at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 and refer to Report No. 005-05463-0370-011.

The terms of the reward provide that:

• The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than August 28, 2008. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than October 27, 2008.
• The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
• The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than October 27, 2008, with the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, and Attention: Jose Isabel Murillo Reward Fund.
