"On December 10, 2004, two gun men entered the Subway restaurant in the City of Whittier. Joseph Molina was complying with the robber's request for cash, but a thief shot him anyway. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this holiday season.

"It is vitally important for the County of Los Angeles to join with the City of Whittier and others in sending a message that we, as a society, will do whatever it takes to apprehend criminals who commit such heinous crimes.

"In order to bring the perpetrators to justice, I believe we should contribute with Subway, who has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. By working together, we can send a message that crimes, such as these, will not be tolerated in our society."

Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Knabe, seconded by Supervisor Molina, unanimously carried, the Board established a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Joseph Molina who was shot during the robbery of a Subway restaurant located near Norwalk Blvd. and Beverly Blvd. in the City of Whittier on Friday, December 10, 2004 at approximately 10:30 p.m.
