At its meeting held March 27, 2007, the Board took the following action:

      Supervisor Antonovich made the following statement:

      �On February 20, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved a reward offer of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) responsible for the heinous beating of 26-year-old Leon Huddleston on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m., at �Young�s Tavern� in Lancaster. Mr. Huddleston suffered multiple skull fractures, a broken jaw and ribs. On February 23, 2007 Mr. Huddleston succumbed to his injuries and died.

      �Consequently, the Sheriff�s Homicide Bureau has assumed the investigation and has requested an increase in the reward amount to assist in obtaining information that may aid in their investigation on this heinous crime.�

      Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Antonovich, seconded by Supervisor Knabe, unanimously carried, the Board extended and increased the $10,000 reward offered to $25,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the brutal beating and subsequent death of 26-year-old Leon Huddleston while at Young's Tavern in Lancaster on February 14, 2007 between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles has extended and increased the $10,000 reward offered to $25,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the brutal beating and subsequent death of 26-year-old Leon Huddleston while at Young's Tavern in Lancaster on February 14, 2007 between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detective Steve Lankford or Sergeant Jeff Cochran at the Los Angeles County Sheriff�s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 and refer to Report No. 007-04026-1132-011.

The terms of the reward provide that:

• The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than August 19, 2007. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than October 18, 2007.
• The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $25,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
• The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than August 17, 2007 with the Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Leon Huddleston Reward Fund.
