At its meeting held March 27, 2007, the Board took the following action:
Supervisor Burke made the following statement:
On July 5, 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved a reward offer of $10,000 for each victim, for a grand total of $30,000, in return for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of David Marcial, Larry Marcial and Luis Cervantes. The reward was extended on September 19, 2006, but will expire on January 1, 2007.
On Friday, June 30, 2006, David Marcial, 10, his uncle, Larry Marcial, 22, and a neighbor, Luis Cervantes, 17, were shot and killed in front of their home near Central Avenue and 49th Street in Los Angeles.
This heinous crime was a senseless and unprovoked attack and the investigators need your help to bring the suspects to justice.
David leaves behind his father, Sergio Sr., his mother, Christina, and two younger sisters. His slain uncle, Larry, ran a disc jockey business with the father, who was also a truck driver. Luis Cervantes leaves behind his mother, Rosa Meza.
The gunmen were believed to be African American and drove a large dark vehicle down 49th Street. One suspect jumped out of the vehicle and started shooting rounds from a large assault-style rifle. The vehicle was last seen traveling on 49th Street.
Friends said none of the victims were gang members.
Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Burke, seconded by Supervisor Molina, unanimously carried, the Board extended the $10,000 reward offered for each victim, for a grand total of $30,000, for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of 10-year-old David Marcial, 22-year-old Larry Marcial, and 17-year-old Luis Cervantes who were shot in front of their home near Central Ave. and 49th Street, in the City of Los Angeles, on Friday, June 30, 2006.
