At its meeting held June 17, 2008, the Board took the following action:

      Supervisor Molina made the following statement:

      "On October 7, 2007, Marcial Sanchez was set on fire by two male suspects as he was standing on the sidewalk at 3544 ½ Cesar Chavez Boulevard. Mr. Sanchez was a 52-year-old, hard working man with a large family, an innocent bystander, waiting for a ride to work. At the time of the attack there were dozens of potential witnesses who may have further information that would be invaluable to investigators to solve this crime. Investigators are seeking the public's assistance to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice, and anyone with information about this case is being urged to contact Detective Quilmes Rodriguez with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 574-3817 as soon as possible."

      Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Molina, seconded by Supervisor Knabe, unanimously carried (Supervisor Yaroslavsky being absent), the Board reestablish the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the attack of Marcial Sanchez, who was set on fire by two male suspects as he was standing on the sidewalk at 3544½ Cesar Chavez Boulevard, on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 6:24 p.m.


NOTICE OF $10,000.00 REWARD
OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles has reestablished the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the attack of Marcial Sanchez, who was set on fire by two male suspects as he was standing on the sidewalk at 3544½ Cesar Chavez Boulevard, on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 6:24 p.m.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detective Quilmes Rodriguez at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 574-3817 and refer to Report No. 007-12021-0275-011.

The terms of the reward provide that:

  • The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than September 15, 2008. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than November 14, 2008.
  • The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
  • The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than November 14, 2008, with the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Marcial Sanchez Reward Fund.
