At its meeting held January 29, 2008, the Board took the following action:
Supervisor Knabe made the following statement:
"On Saturday, January 19, 2008, Dennis Moses, 17, and Breon Taylor, 15, were shot and killed while attending a birthday party at the Lakewood Masonic Center located at 5918 East Parkcrest Street in the City of Long Beach."Police believe a fight occurred between people at the party, which led to gunfire. There have been no arrests in the case, and investigators believe it would be beneficial to offer a reward in this case which may prompt reluctant witnesses to come forward and provide information to identify the individual(s) responsible for this crime."
Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Knabe, seconded by Supervisor Molina, unanimously carried, the Board established a $10,000 reward for each victim, for a grand total of $20,000, for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the deaths of 17-year-old Dennis Moses, and 15-year-old Breon Taylor, who were shot and killed while attending a birthday party at the Lakewood Masonic Center located at 5918 East Parkcrest Street, in the City of Long Beach, on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at approximately 10:30 p.m.
