At its meeting held February 19, 2008, the Board took the following action:
Supervisor Burke made the following statement:
"On February 27, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the brutal murder of Nicole Harvey. The reward offer was extended on August 14, 2007, but will expire on February 22, 2008.
"On Friday, January 26, 2007, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a body, later identified through fingerprints as Nicole Harvey, was discovered fully engulfed in flames in the street gutter of the 8100 block of Tuscany Avenue in the Playa del Rey area of Los Angeles. Further investigation revealed that Ms. Harvey was also shot with an unknown type handgun. Despite a door-to-door search for possible witnesses, no one has come forward with any information which would assist detectives in developing leads in this murder investigation.
"Ms. Harvey was only 21 years old and had her entire life ahead of her. Los Angeles Police Department detectives believe that the offer of a reward may motivate those possessing any information to come forward."
Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Burke, seconded by Supervisor Yaroslavsky, unanimously carried, the Board extended the $5,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the vicious and brutal murder of Nicole Harvey, who was shot and discovered fully engulfed in flames in the street gutter of the 8100 block of Tuscany Ave., Playa del Rey area of Los Angeles, on Friday, January 26, 2007, at approximately 2:00 p.m.
