Hit and Run Death of Patrick Conarpe

At its meeting held August 21, 2007, the Board took the following action:

Supervisor Knabe made the following statement:

      "On Saturday, October 28, 2006, at approximately 7:55 p.m., Patrick Conarpe, an employee of Ralphs Supermarket and resident of Marina del Rey was tragically killed by a hit and run driver at the intersection of Mindanao and Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey.

      "While taking a break from his duties at the market, Mr. Conarpe was crossing Admiralty Way with his friend and co-worker when he may have dropped some personal articles in the crosswalk. While retrieving his personal items from the roadway, he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Admiralty Way suffering fatal injuries.

      "California Highway Patrol investigators are searching for additional witnesses to narrow the path to capture the responsible driver who fled the scene of the accident."

Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Knabe, seconded by Supervisor Molina, unanimously carried, the Board extended the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Patrick Conarpe, who was struck by a hit and run driver at the intersection of Mindanao and Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey, on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at approximately 7:55 p.m.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles has extended the $10,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Patrick Conarpe, who was struck by a hit and run driver at the intersection of Mindanao and Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey, on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at approximately 7:55 p.m.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Investigator Dan Morrison at the California Highway Patrol at (310) 642-3939 ext 244 and refer to Report No. 2006-10-0372.

The terms of the reward provide that:

The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than February 28, 2008. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than April 28, 2008.
The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than April 28, 2008 with the Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Patrick Conarpe Reward Fund.
