Stabbing Death of Paul Edward Doherty Description and Date of Crime: Stabbing Death of Paul Edward Doherty - 10/08/2005 Location: Rowland Heights Reward Amount and Date Offered: $10,000 - 12/06/2005 Deadline to Provide Information to Law Enforcement Agency: 03/06/2006 Deadline to Submit Claim to Executive Office: 05/05/2006
At its meeting held December 6, 2005, the Board took the following action:
The following statement was entered into the record for Supervisor Knabe:“On October 8, 2005, Mr. Paul Edward Doherty attended a gathering with friends and family in the Rowland Heights area. Upon leaving the neighborhood, Mr. Doherty became involved in an altercation with another motorist, which resulted in him being stabbed numerous times. After the attack, Mr. Doherty drove himself to the Walnut Sheriff’s Station in order to seek aid and was subsequently airlifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
“The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau detectives are investigating this murder, however, to date they have received no viable clues regarding the incident and this investigation has proven to be most difficult in that detectives are unclear as to the exact location of this assault.
“Investigators believe this would be an appropriate time to offer a reward in this case which may prompt otherwise reluctant witnesses to come forward and provide information to identify those responsible for this heinous crime.”
Therefore, at the suggestion of Supervisor Knabe and on motion of Supervisor Antonovich, seconded by Supervisor Molina, unanimously carried (Supervisor Knabe being absent), the Board established a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the stabbing death of Paul Edward Doherty, which occurred on the evening of October 8, 2005, when Mr. Doherty became involved in an altercation with another motorist upon leaving a gathering with friends and family in the Rowland Heights area.
