At its meeting held March 20, 2007, the Board took the following action:

      The following statement was entered into the record for Supervisor Antonovich:

      �On Friday night, March 9, 2007, into Saturday early morning March 10, 2007, at about 2:00 a.m., the Quartz Hill area and the west side of the City of Lancaster were plagued with twenty-four vehicle vandalisms. There was an additional four vandalisms in other parts of the area, two in the central city area of Lancaster and two in Lake Los Angeles. The vandals apparently drove through the neighborhoods throwing large landscaping rocks and bricks at parked vehicles. The total damages are estimated at over $20,000.00. The Sheriff�s Lancaster Station is seeking information to assist them in their investigation.�

      Therefore, at the suggestion of Supervisor Antonovich and on motion of Supervisor Burke seconded by Supervisor Knabe, unanimously carried (Supervisor Antonovich being absent), the Board established a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for vandalizing 24 vehicles in the Quartz Hill, Lancaster and Lake Los Angeles communities from March 9 through 10, 2007.


NOTICE OF $10,000.00 REWARD
OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles has established a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for vandalizing 24 vehicles in the Quartz Hill, Lancaster and Lake Los Angeles communities from March 9 through 10, 2007.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detective Charles Friedland at the Los Angeles County Sheriff�s Lancaster Station at (661) 940 3852 and refer to the Vehicle Vandalism case.

The terms of the reward provide that:

  • The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than June 18, 2007. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than August 17, 2007.
  • The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
  • The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than August 17, 2007 with the Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Vehicle Vandalism Reward Fund.
