Shooting Death of Robert Whitehead

At its meeting held April 8, 2008, the Board took the following action:

Supervisor Molina made the following statement:

"On March 9, 2006, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Robert Whitehead was tragically murdered at Moccasin Street in West Valinda, while attempting to deter gang members from spray painting gang graffiti on a neighbor’s home. Investigators are seeking the public's assistance to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice, and anyone with information about this case is being urged to contact Sergeant Timothy Miley with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 as soon as possible."

Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Molina, seconded by Supervisor Yaroslavsky, unanimously carried, the Board reestablished the $25,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Robert Whitehead, who was shot while attempting to deter gang members from spray painting gang graffiti on a neighbor's home in the 13400 block of Moccasin St., in West Valinda, on March 9, 2006 at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles has reestablished the $25,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Robert Whitehead, who was shot while attempting to deter gang members from spray painting gang graffiti on a neighbor's home in the 13400 block of Moccasin St., in West Valinda, on March 9, 2006 at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detective Timothy Miley at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 and refer to Report No. 006-04165-1420-011.

The terms of the reward provide that:

The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than October 5, 2008. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than December 4, 2008.
The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $25,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than December 4, 2008, with the executive Office of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Robert Whitehead Reward Fund.
