At its meeting held September 25, 2007, the Board took the following action:

      Supervisor Burke made the following statement:

      "On Tuesday, September 18, 2007, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., Ms. Severa Madrona was brutally assaulted and killed as she was walking along Eriel Avenue between 153rd Street and 152nd Street in the unincorporated area of El Camino Village located adjacent to the City of Gardena. Ms. Madrona lived in the neighborhood and walked every morning. She was an active member of St. Catherine’s Church in Torrance and volunteered as a poll worker in the Gardena area. She lived in the area for over 24 years and had a large, loving family, including 29 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

      "Sheriff's Department investigators stated that the offer of a reward may encourage individuals to come forth with information which may aid in the homicide investigation."

      Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Burke, seconded by Supervisor Knabe, unanimously carried, the Board established a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Severa Madrona, who was brutally assaulted and killed as she was walking along Eriel Avenue between 153rd Street and 152nd Street, in the unincorporated area of El Camino Village on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.


NOTICE OF $10,000.00 REWARD
OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Severa Madrona, who was brutally assaulted and killed as she was walking along Eriel Avenue between 153rd Street and 152nd Street, in the unincorporated area of El Camino Village on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Sergeant Chris Brackpool at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 and refer to Report No. 007-09422-0387-011.

The terms of the reward provide that:

  • The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than December 24, 2007. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than February 22, 2008.
  • The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
  • The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than February 22, 2008, with the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Severa Madrona Reward Fund.
