At its meeting held October 16, 2007, the Board took the following action:

      Supervisor Antonovich made the following statement:

      “Sometime "On October 4, 2007, six newly planted trees were discovered broken in half at the Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles. Additionally, there was gang-related graffiti in the men's restroom.

“The "The Sheriff's Lancaster Station is seeking the public’s assistance with information to aid in their investigation."

      Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Antonovich, seconded by Supervisor Knabe, unanimously carried (Supervisor Yaroslavsky being absent), the Board established a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the vandalism of six newly planted trees and gang related graffiti in the men's bathroom at Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles, which was discovered on Thursday, October 4, 2007.

OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the vandalism of six newly planted trees and gang related graffiti in the men's bathroom at Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles, which was discovered on Thursday, October 4, 2007.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Captain Paul Gallo of the Los Angeles County Police at (661) 257-0881 and refer to Report No. 08-637.

The terms of the reward provide that:

  • The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than January 14, 2008. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than March 14, 2008.
  • The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
  • The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than March 14, 2008 with the Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Sorensen Park Vandalism Reward Fund.
