At its meeting held September 27, 2005, the Board took the following action:

      Supervisor Antonovich made the following statement:

      “On Thursday, June 16, 2005 at about 9:30 p.m., 36-year-old Tangie Schatz was the victim of an assault, severe beating and a robbery outside the main south side entrance of the Antelope Valley Mall. The suspects who attacked the math teacher from Almondale Middle School in Littlerock, are described as Asian males between the ages of 17 and 19. They were seen fleeing the scene in a white, two-door, 1995 to 1998 Honda or Mazda, driven by a third suspect, also described as an Asian male.

      “Sheriff’s detectives are seeking information that will aid them in their investigation of this matter.”

      Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Antonovich, seconded by Supervisor Knabe, unanimously carried (Supervisor Molina being absent), the Board established a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the assault of 36-year-old Tangie Schatz, a math teacher at Almondale Middle School in Litterock, who was severely beaten and robbed outside the main south side entrance of the Antelope Valley Mall located at 1233 West Avenue P, in the City of Palmdale on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at approximately 9:30 p.m.


NOTICE OF $10,000.00 REWARD
OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the assault of 36-year-old Tangie Schatz, a math teacher at Almondale Middle School in Litterock, who was severely beaten and robbed near the Antelope Valley Mall located at 1233 West Avenue P, in the City of Palmdale on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detective David Moore at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Palmdale Division at (661) 267-4300 and refer to Report No. 05-10774-26.

The terms of the reward provide that:

  • The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than September 26, 2005. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than November 25, 2005.
  • The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $10,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
  • The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than November 25, 2005 with the Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Tangie Schatz Reward Fund.
