At its meeting held January 30, 2007, the Board took the following action:

      Supervisor Molina made the following statement:

      “On Saturday, January 2, 1993, Veronica Ultreras and her three-year-old daughter, Cynthia Ultreras, were brutally murdered by strangulation in the City of Los Angeles. To date, the perpetrator responsible for this terrible and heinous crime is still at-large.

      “On August 3, 2004, I moved that the Board of Supervisors approve a $25,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the deaths of Veronica Ultreras and Cynthia Ultreras. Since that time, the reward has expired.”

      Therefore, on motion of Supervisor Molina, seconded by Supervisor Burke, unanimously carried, the Board reestablished the $25,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the deaths of Veronica Ultreras and her three year old daughter, Cynthia Ultreras, who were brutally murdered by strangulation in the 800 block of North Avenue 50 in the City of Los Angeles, on Saturday, January 2, 1993.


NOTICE OF $25,000.00 REWARD
OFFERED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is reestablishing the $25,000 reward offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the deaths of Veronica Ultreras and her three year old daughter, Cynthia Ultreras, who were brutally murdered by strangulation in the 800 block of North Avenue 50 in the City of Los Angeles, on Saturday, January 2, 1993.

Any person having any information related to this crime is requested to call Detective Kent Anderson, Los Angeles Police Department at (213) 485-2030 and refer to Report No. 93-1102-124.

The terms of the reward provide that:

  • The information given that leads to the determination of the identity, the apprehension and conviction of any person or persons must be given no later than April 30, 2007. All reward claims must be in writing and shall be received no later than June 29, 2007.
  • The total County payment of any and all rewards shall in no event exceed $25,000 and no claim shall be paid prior to conviction unless the Board of Supervisors makes a finding of impossibility of conviction due to the death or incapacity of the person or persons responsible for the crime or crimes.
  • The County reward may be apportioned between various persons and/or paid for the conviction of various persons as the circumstances fairly dictate.

Any claims for the reward funds should be filed no later than June 29, 2007 with the Executive Officer of the Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383 Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles, California 90012, Attention: Veronica and Cynthia Ultreras Reward Fund.
